What Does Tom Brady Know That You Don't

Tom Brady will inevitably be known as one of the greatest NFL quarterbacks who ever played the game.

What is truly remarkable is the age he played too at a world class level.
However, he's not the only athlete now playing at an age that used to be well past retirement.
The list is getting longer and longer.
Look at Simone Biles, at the ripe old age of 27, (which by gymnastic standards is a dinosaur) just won Olympic gold and is already talking about competing in the 2028 LA Olympics!

Is there something these athletes know that you don't?
I recently read Tom's book TB 12.
It provided valuable insight into what he and most of these other aging athletes are doing to defy the chronological clock.

It turns out the secret sauce is actually four pillars of performance.

First is what he calls "Pliability" work!

Which is a euphemism for a special type of structural work called ART, Active Release Technique.
If you've ever been a patient of mine than you more than likely have experienced this type of therapy.
It's designed to essentially break up scar tissue that results from injury or the  repetitive injury cycle. As we age we accumulate more and more scar tissue which creates more and more pain and decreases our performance.

Look, we're all athletes in one since or another. Weather your a professional athlete, a weekend warrior or an occupational athlete, we all riley on our bodies to perform what we ask.
Just bringing in the groceries requires some athletic ability.
Tom actually gets this structural work done before and after every workout!
I guess when you're a multimillionaire athlete you can afford to hire your own ART slave to follow you around.

(If your reading this Tom, I'm available)

He attributes his ability stay in the game and to perform at the level he does due to this specific therapy.
Also, chiropractic adjustments have been a main stay in professional sports for years, and the who's who of athletes who use this as part of their structural integrity and world class performance is endless.
Your only as strong as your weakest link, and for many that weak link are stuck joints.

The second pillar is, Hydration, Hydration, Hydration.

Most of us are walking around dehydrated.
It's one of the most important factors in not only ill health but injury.
The amount of water you require varies depending on numerous factors but a good rule of thumb is to consume 1 ounce of water for every pound you weigh.
So for instance I weigh around 200 lbs. so I need 100 ounces of water a day.
Now it's critical to understand that when you drink that much water you have to replace the electrolytes not only because you will flush out the ones you have, but to get the H2O to cross the cell membrane, which is were you want it to go.
Electrolytes are vitally important for healthy metabolism.
A great cheap bio hack is to use a pinch of good sea salt.
Unprocessed salt has any were from 60 to 94 different trace minerals and electrolytes'
You don't need to turn it back into ocean water, just enough to taste it!

The third pillar is an anti-inflammatory diet.

There is a fairly new term in anti-aging called "Inflammaging"
Recognizing that chronic inflammation is not only responsible for many chronic degenerative diseases but also one of the main culprits to premature aging.
If you don't already have it or if it's been many moons since I last saw you, I have a anti-inflammation guide I wrote which has been recently updated which you can have for free.
Just contact my office or web site, mypainfix.com and I'll send that to you.

The fourth pillar:

Less training with heavy weights and more with bands.
(Not to say training with heavy weights isn't useful, but in the long run it can be hard on your joints.
Every one I know, including myself who has been in the iron game for over 10 years is an absolute train wreck.
The reason being what's known in physics as "Load", a byproduct of gravity.
Tom explains in his book the difference of free weights vs. band training being analogist to, say you have 5000 pounds of bricks you need to haul. So you throw them in the back of your truck. All that weight due to gravity is producing "load" into the system. Hard on your truck, hard on your joints.
But if you were to put those bricks in a trailer and tow them behind you, now you no longer have load, you have pure resistance.
Much easier on the joints.
And notice an interesting fact about Brady, He didn't get hurt that much.
He was also faster in his 40's than he was in college.
Tom almost exclusively trained with bands.....

These concepts can provide you with the same advantage these amazing athletes have in enjoying life and to continue to perform at the level you want for many years to come.

Ask yourself a question. What do I want for my future?
A life pain free as possible and the ability to enjoy the things I like to do.
Or, a life racked with pain, inability to pursue my passions and a low quality of life.

The combination of chiropractic and ART protocol is an investment in your future health.
These therapies are the currency these athletes have discovered which allow for a long fruitful career.

If it's been more than a month since I've seen you, make an appointment and make a deposit into your future health account!

If you live near San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente, Dana Point, Mission Viejo or Laguna Niquel than your real close to becoming the best you that you can be!

I hope this provides some valuable advice on being the best you, that you can be.

As always,  watching your back.................DR. Steve
